Background: RubinBrown recognizes the National Guard, Reserves and active duty team members as essential to the strength of our nation. Policy: It is the policy of RubinBrown to protect the job rights of team members on military leave. In accordance with federal and state law, the Firm prohibits discrimination or retaliation against individuals based on past, current, or future military obligations; allows for team members to take leave of absence to serve in the uniformed services; and provides a qualified right to reinstatement upon return from service. Team members will not be denied initial employment, reemployment, retention in employment, promotion, or any other benefit of employment on the basis of such relationship. In addition, team members will not be subjected to retaliation or adverse employment action because they have exercised their rights under this policy. If team members believe that they have been subjected to discrimination, contact Human Resources immediately. Procedure: Team members are requested to provide written notice within 30 days of active military service. Once official orders have been received, please provide a copy to Human Resources. Team members on temporary military leave (two weeks or less in one year), are entitled to receive ten days of unpaid military leave. All benefits will continue during a team member’s military leave. Team members experiencing extended military leave (more than two weeks in one year), will be placed on an unpaid military leave of absence. Please see the Human Resources department for additional information. The maximum amount of time for extended military leave is five years. Team members on temporary or extended military leave may, at their option, use any or all current and/or banked PTO during their absence. Team members on extended military leave may elect to continue group health and dental insurance coverage for the employee and covered dependents under the same terms and conditions for a period not to exceed 24 months. The health insurance coverage is continued under COBRA. Other benefits will be terminated on the team members first day of active leave.
