Background: RubinBrown provides paid time off for the purpose of preparing, attending and/or traveling to a funeral for a team member's immediate family. Policy: RubinBrown will provide up to three days of paid bereavement leave for a team member upon the death of an immediate family member. For purposes of this policy, “immediate family” is defined as the team member’s spouse, parent, sibling, child, grandparent, grandchild, corresponding In-laws, or any other person who resides in the team member’s household. Procedure: Team members are eligible for paid, bereavement leave from their second day of employment. All regular status salaried and non-exempt team members classified as full-time or Flexible Work Program (working over 1000 hours) are eligible for bereavement pay. Temporary team members are not eligible for paid time off for bereavement. Eligible team members will receive bereavement pay for a maximum of three, regular work days to be taken between the date of death and the day after the funeral. Team members should notify their Career Advocate(s), and the Scheduling Coordinator, of their loss so proper, timely arrangements can be made for alternative staffing arrangements and/or coverage. Human Resources should be notified so arrangements are made for timely documentation for payroll purposes and to coordinate tribute arrangements, as appropriate. Team members should record time off for bereavement leave to the Time and Billing System Service Code “ 90503 ”. Time off for bereavement of non-immediate family members should be deducted from a team member’s current paid time off allowance and recorded under Paid Time Off – Time and Billing Service Code “ 90401 ”.
