In 2017, the Tulsa region generated $2.3 billion in gaming revenues, growing at a rate of 2.1%. The Tulsa region represents 64 casinos in Eastern Oklahoma and five casinos in Northeastern Kansas. The 2017 gaming revenue growth matched the 2017 U.S. inflation rate (2.1%); however, the average revenue per casino declined by 2.4% as a result of increased competition within the region. Tulsa Casinos Expand Amenities to Retain Market Share: With the Tulsa market being highly competitive and revenues remaining in-line with inflationary increases, tribal nations are looking to expand and enhance their amenities to retain market share. Within the Tulsa metropolitan area, the Osage Nation completed a $160 million casino expansion project in August 2018. The expansion added a 141 room hotel, brewery, pool, entertainment area and expanded gaming floor. This was simply the latest addition to the Tulsa metropolitan area, as the Creek Nation completed a $365 million project in 2017 at the River Spirit Casino. Prairie Band Casino Retains Market Share Through a $55 Million Upgrade: Since December 15, 2009, the Prairie Band Casino and Resort has seen an increase in competition from the opening of four state-sponsored commercial casinos. Since the emergence of state gaming, the Prairie Band Casino has been able to hold its own amidst the increased competition. After 20 years of operations, the casino began to undergo a three-year, $55 million renovation which is aimed at ensuring the casino continues to be a leading regional resort and entertainment destination for decades to come. The renovations include a refresh of the casino interior, adding a spa, additional dining amenities and expanding the hotel by 75 rooms.
