In 2016, the Tulsa region generated $2.3 billion in gaming revenues, growing at a rate of 5.7%. The growth in 2016 exceeded both the three-year and five-year compounded annual growth rates. Unlike the Oklahoma City region, which covers the western part of Oklahoma, the Tulsa region has seen the number of gaming operations remain relatively flat since 2011, as the number of casinos have only increased from 62 gaming operations to 64 operations. • The Choctaw Nation continues its expansion efforts in Grant, Oklahoma. On November 3, 2017, the Choctaw Nation celebrated the completion of a $50 million expansion project at the Choctaw Casino and Resort in Grant. The expansion included the addition of 96 hotel rooms, a swimming pool, a new poker room and expanded dining and gaming amenities. • The Cherokee Nation is driving growth in the surrounding communities. The Cherokee Nation operates ten casinos across northeastern Oklahoma, generating over 25.0% of the Tulsa region’s $2.3 billion in gaming revenues. Through these gaming operations and other business interests, the nation is driving economic growth for the 14 counties in which it is located, including: ° Partnering with the Tulsa Chamber of Commerce to attract Sofidel America, an Italian-owned paper manufacturing company, to the region, creating 300 permanent jobs ° Providing education and training through the Nation’s Career Services Department in order to fulfill employment needs at a new fulfillment center for Macy’s (department stores) and an HVAC manufacturing plant for DMI Companies ° Developing a new hospital in Tahlequah, which will employ more than 850 health care professionals once completed in 2019
