In 2016, the Oklahoma City region continued its growth streak, generating 4.0% growth and $2.3 billion in gaming revenues. The region has been the fastest growing tribal region over the last five years. The region has generated a five-year compounded annual growth rate of 6.2%. The growth in revenues has been largely attributed to the opening of new gaming facilities, as the region has seen the number of casinos increase by 35.3% since 2011. • Oklahoma tribe wins approval to operate an international focused iGaming website, PokerTribe.com. The Iowa Tribe of Oklahoma secured a gaming license from the Isle of Man to operate online gaming in international markets. The license was secured after two years of setbacks and delays; however, challenges remain. The tribe’s business partner, Universal Entertainment Group, is currently being sued by the Cheyenne-Arapaho Tribe (also located in Oklahoma) for recovery of damages from a previous online gaming effort titled PokerTribes.com. • The Chickasaw Nation exemplifies continued diversification beyond gaming. The Chickasaw Nation generates more than 50.0% of the region’s revenues with local newspapers reporting the nation generated $1.3 billion in gaming revenues during 2016. While the nation’s casinos have been a tremendous success based on their ability to attract a large percentage of both the Oklahoma City and Dallas markets, the nation has also used gaming revenues to invest in other businesses. The nation currently operates more than 100 businesses that span across 38 states and employ more than 2,000 employees. These non-gaming related businesses are now giving back to the community, contributing more than $200 million in profits to the Chickasaw Nation to support and expand the government’s services.
