Background: RubinBrown recognizes the importance of maintaining and improving skills required for continued performance. Policy: RubinBrown will reimburse full-time and part-time flexible work program team members the cost of relevant, job related accreditations, designations and certifications as approved by their Career Advocate and Service Unit Leader or Department Head. The accreditation, designation or certification must maintain or improve skills required for the current job or must be required as a condition of continued employment in the job. To be eligible, team members must be on “active” status and work a minimum of 1,000 or more hours per year. The reimbursement of fees is capped at the total cost of one sitting fee for each section of the exam and one application fee. Team members are eligible for reimbursement of registration and examination fees upon successful completion of the approved exam. Team members must submit proof of completion (including receipts), the final certificate earned, along with any other exam information to Human Resources for reimbursement processing through Concur Expense module. Procedure: Reimbursement for accreditations, designations, certifications, or examinations other than the Certified Public Accountant (CPA) require approval from the team member’s Service Unit Leader or Department Head prior to application for the exam. Once approval is acquired from the Service Unit Leader or Department Head please notify Human Resources. Bonus Eligibility • Team members taking the CPA Exam will be eligible to receive a bonus upon successful completion of the exam. The bonus will be paid only if all four parts of the exam are successfully completed within one year from the latter of the team member’s date of hire or date of exam eligibility. If the exam is passed in the team member’s second year of employment or eligibility (months 13 to 24), the team member will still be eligible for a bonus but the eligible bonus amount is less than if passed in the first year. In year three and beyond (25 months or later), team members are not eligible for the exam bonus. • Team members obtaining an accreditation, designation, certification, or taking an examination other than the CPA Exam, will be issued a bonus upon successful exam completion on a discretionary basis. The Career Advocate, Service Unit Leader or Department Head and the Managing Partner must approve the bonus. • Members of Management Group are not eligible for the exam bonus. Study Materials and Study Time • RubinBrown will reimburse up to $3,000 per team member for exam study materials which includes but is not limited to courses, books and software. Team members are eligible for reimbursement of exam study materials upon successful completion of the approved exam. Team members must receive approval prior to enrollment and submit proof of enrollment (including receipts) to Human Resources for reimbursement processing through Concur. Time taken off to study for the exam, accreditation, designation, certification, or taking an examination other than the CPA Exam, will be counted as Paid Time Off (PTO). RubinBrown will pay for time to sit for any exam, accreditation, designation, or certification, as approved (also see Paragraph 3). The proper time code to enter in Time Entry is “90207 – Examination”.
