Background: Certified Public Accountants (CPAs) are licensed professionals that require application and periodic re application of license eligibility. Policy: RubinBrown team members with licensed certifications must be in compliance with state licensing regulations. The Compliance Team will provide guidance if needed by team members through the licensing process. The purpose is to ensure team members complete the process efficiently and correctly; and that firm management is aware and supportive of team members pursuing licensure. Understanding the steps of this process is necessary so team members are professionally strong and the firm is represented by highly qualified team members. Licensure within the team member’s state of employment is required. Team members must complete all required education and work experience within the guidelines of the state. Guidelines: Team Members pursing an initial CPA license will: • Discuss career intentions with their Career Advocate(s); • Work through the process with the Learning & Development Team and/or Compliance Team; • Communicate with the Learning and Development Team and/or Compliance Team of the current status and intentions; and • Pursue a consistent plan of completing licensure requirements. After a team member receives their initial CPA license, they will maintain all professional education and all requirements needed for future license renewal. The expenses associated with license application or renewal will be reimbursed by the Firm. All RubinBrown professional team members (licensed and non-licensed) are required to meet the continuing professional education requirements of the state of their home office location and the requirements of any and all states in which they hold a license. All licensed CPA’s will report any issues with their license standing or status to the Compliance Team immediately and work with the firm to resolve all issues.
