Background: RubinBrown provides team members paid time away from work responsibilities following the birth of a team member's child or the placement of an adopted child with a team member. Policy: Maternity Medical Leave – The purpose of this medical leave is to enable birth mothers to have four weeks of paid recovery time from the birth of a child. Parental Leave – The purpose of this leave is to enable team members two weeks of paid time to care for and bond with a newly born or newly adopted child. To be eligible for paid Maternity Medical and Parental leave, team members must meet the following criteria: • Have been employed with the company for at least 12 months (the 12 months do not need to be consecutive) • Have worked at least 1,000 hours during the 12 consecutive months immediately preceding the date the leave would begin • Be a full or part-time, regular status team member (temporary team members and interns are not eligible for this benefit) Procedure: To apply for paid Maternity Medical and/or Parental leave, team members must notify the human resources department at least 30 days prior to the proposed date of leave. The team member must complete the necessary request forms and provide all documentation as required by the human resources department to substantiate the request. Eligible team members will receive: • Mothers who have given birth to a child – 4 consecutive weeks of paid maternity medical leave to recover from birth. 2 consecutive weeks of paid parental leave. Total leave is a maximum of 6 consecutive weeks. • Spouse or partner of birth mother – maximum of 2 consecutive weeks of parental leave. • Adoptive parents of child 17 years or younger – maximum of 2 consecutive weeks of parental leave. The adoption of a stepchild by a spouse is excluded from this policy.
