Background: RubinBrown permits the employment of qualified individuals that are immediate family members of current team members. Policy: Immediate family members are permitted to work at the Firm, provided there is no direct reporting or supervisor to subordinate relationship. Exceptions to the direct reporting or supervisor to subordinate relationship prohibition may be granted, but the exception must be pre-approved in writing by the appropriate Service Unit Leader or Department Leader. Procedure: “Immediate family” may be defined as spouse, child, parent, sibling, grandparent, grandchild, aunt, uncle, niece, nephew, first cousin, corresponding in-law, “step” relation or any member of the team members household. Team members who date, marry or become part of the same household are treated in accordance with these same guidelines. Direct reporting or supervisor to subordinate relationship is defined as having the ability to influence work responsibilities, salary, hours, career progress, benefits or other terms and conditions of employment. If a conflict arises as a result of the relationship, one of the team members may be transferred at the earliest practical time. If a transfer cannot be arranged, the other team member will be given a reasonable amount of time (up to 30 days) to elect which team member will separate employment with the Firm.
