Policy: It is the policy of RubinBrown to comply with Federal and State laws and the implementation of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA). RubinBrown upon occasion may work with or observe a client’s information, which includes Protected Health Information (PHI), (individually identifiable information regarding the health status of a person held by a HIPAA covered entity). Procedure: All RubinBrown team members are required to keep this information confidential, private and secure. To comply with Federal and State law as well as RubinBrown’s contractual obligations to keep PHI private and secure through Business Associate Agreements (“BAAs”) (see Policy 1204 regarding Business Associate Agreements), all team members must have adequate training. 1. All RubinBrown team members must complete training in regard to RubinBrown’s HIPAA policies and procedures. 2. The training may be conducted by video training or a presentation by a risk management committee approved trainer and will include review of the applicable policies and procedures. 3. RubinBrown will document the completion of the training in each team member’s personnel files. 4. Violation of the policies and procedures will result in disciplinary action up to and including termination.
All RubinBrown team members agree to adhere to these policies and procedures.
