TRANSPORTATION & DEALERSHIPS

The Industry’s Codes of Conduct by Aaron Pollard, CPA, CGMA

A uto dealerships have long been the lifeblood of local economies across the country. They create local jobs, tax revenue and contribute to their communities in many other ways. They are often leaders in the business community, initiating and adapting to change. Additionally each dealership contains a significant amount of confidential customer information that they must retain due to the nature of their sales. Because of this and the impact on their communities and the economy, it is important that each dealership develop its own code of conduct. As a member of the National Automobile Dealers Association (NADA), each dealership

subscribes to the following principles and standards.

Implicit in this code is the requirement that NADA members comply fully with all federal, state and local laws governing their businesses. Members pledge to: ∙ Operate business in accord with the highest standards of ethical conduct. ∙ Treat each customer in a fair, open and honest manner, and fully comply with all laws that prohibit discrimination. ∙ Meet the transportation needs of customers in a knowledgeable and professional manner.
