The New Technology in Home Building By Steve Hays, CPA
Despite the worst five years in home building history, the advances that have been made in technology and social media during that time period have and will continue to have a significant impact on the industry as the market begins to gradually recover. Technology has allowed builders to do more with fewer people, a lesson learned that won’t be forgotten as sales volumes increase. Social media has forced the industry to reevaluate how advertising and marketing dollars have traditionally been spent.
The use of various phone applications has impacted how buyers learn and maintain contact with home builders. Current phone applications provided by several builders around the country include features that provide detailed location maps, descriptions of all current communities, completed move-in inventory, model plans, and models, all with vivid images. The impact of social media has become even more profound as builders look for new ways to connect to the current generation of home buyers. Social
