Designed for media financial and business executives, this conference provides education on accounting, taxes, human resource, technology, newspaper, television, radio, cable, and credit and collection issues. RubinBrown Partner Larry Rubin, who leads the firm’s Media & Entertainment Services Group, attended

the conference and reports on the following three media industry issues were explored:

1. Performance & Digital Music Rights Legislation has been introduced recently regarding a “performance tax” or royalty payments due from a radio broadcaster for the use of sound recordings. Currently, there is no requirement to pay for performances. The Performance Rights Act is currently before Congress and is expected to be hotly debated.
