Building Trends for Today’s ChangingMarket

The good news …the worst is over.

The bad news… recovery is expected to be slow.

It certainly has been a challenging five years for the home building industry. Nearly two-thirds of the builders nationwide are no longer in business. Some of the hardest hit states include Florida, Nevada, and Arizona. Foreclosures are beginning to decline, particularly in coastal states.

Compounding the crisis has been the availability of credit to both home builders and buyers. On the plus side, housing prices appear to have stabilized and are actually showing slight increases this year. The graph on the following page, provided by the National Association of Home Builders, depicts recovery trends across the nation:
